Taking suomoto cognizance of eviction of Baba Ramdev and his supporters from Ramlila ground, the Supreme Court on Monday asked the government to respond.
Hearing a petition filed by advocate Ajay Agarwal on Sunday, the Supreme Court has asked the government to respond within two weeks on the forceful eviction of Baba Ramdev and nearly 65,000 supporters.
Additional Registrar Vinod Kumar has asked advocate Agarwal to mention of petition before a vacation bench tomorrow.
The advocate has named Prime Minister, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal among respondents.
Various opposition parties have condemned the act and BJP has compared the incident with Jallianwala Bagh.
Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev has continued with the fast from Haridwar. Baba Ramdev has indicated that the fast will continue and more supporters are expected to join.
