In the pursuit of tackling the failure of Victoria government in addressing the emergency needs of the patients, the government launched a website last year, which provides Victorian patients with immediate information regarding the near hospitals to be contacted for emergency.
Though the website is useful for those seeking emergency care, the non-urgent patients would have to wait to get appointment at hospital. Last year, when the web site was launched it was promised that it will help in reducing the waiting time to get treatment but it didn’t serve the purpose.
Therefore, in order to meet the need of the patients the hospital yesterday launched a new website which is suppose to reduce the waiting time period to get treatment. But the opposition Health Spokesman, Gavin Jennings accused the site saying that it does not provide accurate time as it was promised and could be misleading.
Mr. Jennings has accused that the website encourages patients with minor health problems to seek emergency department’s help and leaves a seriously ill person to struggle by all himself. He said, “It could lead to blockages in the system”. Moreover a report has revealed that about 100,000 patients were not provided with care between January and March and the website was no help to these patients.
