Melanie Carmen and Joy McDonagh, two sisters in their forties, were bitten by bed bugs and were treated in the hospital against it.
Out of the two sisters, Joy McDonagh suffered the most because she had 30 times more bites on her body than Melanie Carmen. As per Mrs. Carmen, “The bites were extremely painful. We were left suffering from deep aches, itching and other flu-like symptoms, and it took months for the bites to disappear. It makes it worse knowing it isn't just us who have suffered because of the appalling conditions at the hotel”.
According to the revelation, the two sisters received £1,600 as compensation by the hotel owners for commencing a settlement without taking up a legal trial process. The legal representative of the sisters, Katy Bailey, revealed that many other guests had complained about the poor hygiene and maintenance of the hotel rooms.
As per the Spokesperson of the hotel, the hotel was in a deal with a pest controlling firm and kept a regular check on the hotel rooms. Moreover, the person revealed that the hotel rooms did not suffer any bed bug plague; rather it came from the luggage bags of the visitors which further multiplied in number.
