Indian stock markets got well today covering up earlier losses.
At 9:53 a. m., the 30-share index Sensex was ruling 59.37 points up (0.33%) at 18,145.57 with 16 components in the green zone.
In the meantime, the broad based NSE Nifty surged 17.80 points (0.33%) to trade at 5,438.40 with 30 components posting gains.
Today, the BSE Sensex belled the day after recording a gain of 80.44 points (0.44%) at 18,166.64, whereas the Nifty commenced the day with a gain of 27.55 points (0.51%) at 5,448.15.
The major gainers in the 30-share index comprised M&M, which surged 1.90%, Tata Motors gained 1.38%, ITC climbed 1.24%, RIL zoomed 1.12%, TCS added 1.07% and Bajaj Auto remained up by 1%.
In contrast, the top losers' list consisted of Hero Honda, which declined 2.08%, Rel Energy dipped 1.23%, Tata Power dropped 0.98%, DLF lost 0.83%, L&T fell 0.72%, and HDFC was down by 0.47%.
The BSE Midcap index shed 1.11 points (-0.02%).
Among sectoral indices, the Oil & Gas index surged 76.16 points followed by the FMCG index, which gained 29.72 points and the PSU index added 57.33 points.
In contrast, the Realty index remained down by 12.48 points to trade at 2,107.97.
