It has been revealed in a recent report that there has been an alarming rise in the number of whooping cough cases in the Victoria region over the past few weeks. It might be the onset of an epidemic and there is need for controlling it before it gets any bigger than this. This disease specially affects kids, below the age of 6 months. Parents need to make it a point to take care of their kids, in order to keep them safe from the onset of the disease.

The figures revealed by the health department of the area are of the view that there has been a steady rise in the number of infected people over the years, and this year alone, there have been about 8000 people affected by the disease.

The worst part is that the disease is contagious and it spreads from one person to another. 5his makes it all the more important for people to keep their babies safe by keeping them away from people who have cough and infection.

The babies also need to be vaccinated against the disease. The winters are supposed to be particularly rough this year and there is need for effective protection against the harsh weather, for the kids especially.

“The aim of our new campaign is to let parents and healthcare providers know how they can become better at identifying the disease, how their babies can be protected, and how to help prevent whooping cough from spreading”, revealed the Health Minister Nicola Roxon. She further stressed on the need for keeping children safe with vaccination and helping them against the disease.

The new campaign shall help in getting three course vaccinations for children.
