Proteins in Frog Can Help Fight Cancer, Says Study

It has been propagated by Wordsworth and Robert Frost that nature has a link with human soul and it helps in healing man’s illness but it is for the first time when scientists have found nature as a cure for deadlier cancer. The scientists of Queen's University Belfast have recently discovered that proteins in frog skins have the potential to treat cancer, diabetes and stroke.

The scientists said that as frog has the ability to switch on or off blood vessel growth proteins therefore it has the potential to kill cancer tumors. For the study, scientists extracted proteins from the secretions from the skin of the frogs without hurting them and after extracting proteins frogs were released back to the wild. Author of the study, Professor Shaw said that the natural world holds a key for many problems where drug discovery has failed.

After finding the successful treatment for cancer, the scientists have given frog a name - Waxy Monkey Frog. It has been revealed that these frogs are found in great number in China and Vietnam. It is hoped that the findings of the study will help in providing treatment to millions of people who have been suffering for long from incurable disease like cancer.
