However, doctors have directed Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to receive around three sessions of outpatient chemotherapy, a tough procedure that is expected to result in a severe hair loss and cause other health related problems as well.

The leader has reserved a respectful place among the hearts of Brazilians because of his wise strategies and countless efforts to reconstruct the shattered economic system of the country. Further, his efforts have pushed more than 21 million natives in the country out of poverty and unemployment sphere with a significant decline in the inflation rate.

While expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident his successor, Dilma Rousseff, expressed confidence that Lula will be recovering soon after receiving the needed chemotherapy and claimed that she also had an encounter with lymphoma, earlier in 2009.

In a public letter, released on Yesterday, Rousseff said: "As president of the republic, ex-minister of Lula, but above all as a friend, comrade, sister and admirer, I will be at your side with my support and friendship". Further, she has applauded Lula and marked him as a real leader, a role model and a symbol for the country.

Sources have confirmed that yesterday, the former president had spent time with family while resting.
