It’s World Heart Day today. This was a day founded 11 years ago in 2000. The aim was to make people aware about the rising number of cases of heart diseases and how it is killing people. This is one of the largest killers in the world, claiming about 17.1 million lives all over the world each year. This is the reason we need to join hands and do our bit for the prevention of the same.
The main message that the World Heart Federation is trying to spread today is that over half of the deaths each year could be prevented, if people took a stand and fought their ill habits, to fight this disease. These habits include the usage of tobacco, physical inactivity as well as unhealthy food and lifestyle habits.
If one has to start helping the world control heart diseases, the fight has to begin from home. One has to change his/her own habits and lead by example. Quitting ill habits like alcohol and smoking is an essential step. Avoiding the fatty and fried and extremely unhealthy forms of food, and eating more of a nutritious and balanced diet. This alone can bring about a chance in the health condition of the entire world, starting from one’s own home.
