Apple’s popular smartphone iPhone has emerged as the most popular item on eBay's Top Shopped 2010 list ahead of Barbie and the World Cup.
Users purchased 1.63 million iPhone 4 related items from the site in the year. Barbie came in second with 1.17 million sales. "Military jackets" took third place, while the classic Hot Wheels toys came in fourth. The fifth place was taken by another Apple product, the iPad computer tablet as users purchased more than 600,000 itenms related to the device.
The list is completed by the World Cup, The Beatles, Silly Bandz, Alice in Wonderland and the New Orleans Saints. The list shows a new trend and pints to big gains for Apple as the same list in 2009 did not include any technology products. Last year the top selling item was "The Yankees," which sold 551,230 items, a third less than iPhone this year.
eBay prepares the annual list by analyzing sale and search data from the year to take a note of the prevailing shopping trends.
