Indian Market Update: US Jobs Data and Euro Zone Worries drag stocks lower

Indian Stock markets closed with loss on Monday as the world markets continued to trade in negative territory after US job growth data came last week. The euro zone debt worries have also caused loss of nearly 4 percent for CAC and DAX.

Benchmark BSE Sensex close 108 points lower at 16713. NSE Nifty closed 22 points lower at 5017.

BSE Auto Index closed 111 points higher at 8682. Banking Indices BANKEX and Bank Nifty closed positive. Capital Goods and Consumer Durable stocks were marginally higher.

Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare stocks were among major losers in today's trading session.

As stock markets have been suffering for past few weeks, mainly after the S&P US rating downgrade, equity funds have posted worst returns.

Companies having exposure in US and Europe may face trouble in coming times. The stock price of these companies will remain volatile and will mainly depend on market sentiment in those markets.

In London, FTSE was trading at a loss of nearly 2.3% at 5168. Asian markets closed lower today.
