DreamWorks CEO Jeff Katzenberg, who is behind popular movies like “Shrek” and “Kung Fu Panda,” is joining Zynga's board of directors, according company announced Monday.
Katzenberg becomes the sixth member of the board which includes Zynga’s chief executive, Mark Pincus; its executive vice president, Owen Van Natta; LinkedIn’s founder, Reid Hoffman; a Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers partner, Bing Gordon; and Brad Feld, a managing director at the Foundry Group. According to Pincus, Katzenberg; s joining came after ‘he suggested that the blockbuster of 2011 could be ShrekVille’.
Zynga, which was founded in 2007, has emerged as one of the biggest online gaming company with popular titles like FarmVille and CityVille. Zynga’s games attract more than 275 million users every month on Facebook.
“Zynga has quickly become one of today’s most innovative and entertaining companies,” Mr. Katzenberg said in a statement. “I think Mark has an incredible vision for the future of this company and I couldn’t be more excited to become a part of it.”
