To pacify all the hoopla surrounding construction of Jaipur Metro's Chandpole-Badi Chaupar rail track in Delhi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has come forward to ensure that the heritage of India will remain preserved.
As per the ongoing project to develop connectivity in Delhi, a “tunneling method” is reported to be used by the DMRC, which has unwarrantedly called apprehension from the people living on the route of the track.
Confirming the news, the DMRC spokesperson claimed: "It's a method in which boring is done with the help of a shield machine called the Earth Pressure Balance Machine (EPBM). Deployed in tracks aligned with sensitive areas and important buildings, the EPBM manages the earth pressure with regards to soft ground or densely populated areas ensuring minimum ground movement”.
The initial construction process, however, forced the archaeology department to come into action, though later even they gave a green signal, asserting the safety of the old built monuments.
Meanwhile, the DMRC has assured that the entire process of construction process is pruned under the supervision of experts assisted by refined tests. Apparently, the Chennai Metro rail project and the Delhi Metro heritage line have many a times faced severe criticism from civil society, fearing the safety of Indian heritage.
