It will take only one sitting of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and all fears of dental treatment will be gone, claims the research on the basis of their study.
With the effective results from the session, researchers suggest dental professionals to provide this new sitting at their clinics, instead of waiting for the results of the further research. According the information about the trial published in the British Dental Journal (BDJ), around 40 participants were observed in the study.
Out of the 60 participants, 21 willingly went through the sitting and 20 were made to undergo, at the dental clinic in Sheffield. The other 20 people were made to undergo dental treatments without deadening the area to be treated. The result of the study showed 19 patients who had been through CBT did not take up drugs to sedate the area before the dental treatment for a decade.
The sitting of CBT is a measure to calm people who grow anxious before undergoing dental treatment; the measure relaxes the person with the irrational fear. As per the researchers, “All dentists are highly-skilled, caring health professionals who are trained to put patients at ease. Many also undertake additional training in techniques, such as hypnosis, and acupuncture, and of course, CBT”.
