Hindus rated “fairly warmly” in USA, survey reveals

Most religious groups in USA rate Hindus fairly warmly, according to “polling and analysis” posted by Washington DC headquartered Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan fact tank, on February 15.

Asked to rate a variety of groups on a “feeling thermometer” ranging from 0 to 100, Americans’ feelings toward Hindus have shifted from relatively neutral place of 50 in 2014 on the thermometer to somewhat warmer rating of 58.

Americans aged 18-29 put the Hindus at 64 on the thermometer, which is higher than Jews, Atheists, Evangelical Christians, Mainline Protestants, Muslims and Mormons. Jews gave Hindus a thermometer rating of 70, which is highest given to Hindus by any religious group.

Hindus were rated at 70 by those who had personal connections with someone in the Hindu community, as compared to 54 given by those who had no such connection.

But only 22% of Americans say they personally know a Hindu.

These were among the findings of a new Pew Research Center survey of 4,248 adults conducted between January nine to 23 on the Center’s nationally representative American Trends Panel.

Meanwhile Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada today, congratulating the American Hindu community on climbing higher on the warmth scale; urged them to continue with the traditional values of hard work, higher morals, stress on education, sanctity of marriage, etc.; amidst so many distractions.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, advised Hindus to focus on inner search, stay pure, explore the vast wisdom of scriptures, make spirituality more attractive to youth and children, stay away from the greed, and always keep God in the life.

There are about three million Hindus in USA.

UK Can Expect Kindle Fire by January 2012

Not long ago, Amazon launched its entertainment-oriented, pocket-friendly Fire in US, and the device made a gigantic buzz that claimed it to be the first ever iPad rival in the tech town. No wonder it made people go crazy for getting their hands onto the lovely Kindly Fire, and the Fire caught more fire when CEO Jeff Bezos declared that the device would be pegged at $200 in comparison to Apple’s $500.

Despite all enticing statements, not many words were shared about the release dates of Kindle Fire outside the United States. The tablet is keen on providing downloads of apps, music as well as movies, and there’s no point giving a second thought to the fact that the United States is the focal point of all prime internet services provided by Amazon.

But now, it has been informed by reliable sources that the Kindle Fire will make it to the British market by January and therefore, waiting is perhaps the most advisable thing you can give to all the thrifty shoppers around you.

As per stats, Kindle Fire has been the best-selling product in United States for the last two months, and it is highly being anticipated by market experts and analysts that the Kindle Fire will soon inspire a tremble for the long-running dominance of iPad.

On the other hand, experts are of the view that though Apple’s iPad will retain its ascendancy in IT market during the next year, Kindle Fire is expected to swallow as much as 50% of sales of Android-based tablets.

Though there’s no information on what the price of Fire will be like in the United Kingdom, speculation are on a high that it will be affordable enough and maybe Amazon might sell it at a discount or loss of $3 per unit, in comparison to its price in the United States, since it is vitally a ‘shop front’ focused on digital selling of music, films, books and apps.

Indians Slam Apple for Launching iPhone 4S at Much Higher Price than its US Retail Cost

The anguish and frustration of Indian mobile fascinates and users, who had long been waiting for the launch of iPhone 4S in India, erupted within a matter of few hours of announcement of the cost of iPhone 4S on the websites of Aircel and Bharti Airtel on Friday.

In no time, the social networking media was overflowing with comments disdaining the smartphone maker Apple. The launch price of iPhone in India is Rs 44,500 and evidently, it will be much more costly in India than in the rest of the world. Though various online shopping sites, like ebay, are claiming 10% off on purchase and shipment of iPhone 4S in India, the customers are fuming with the fact that the retail price of Apple iPhone 4S in India is much more than its retail price in the United States.

On micro-blogging site Twitter, comments started rushing in soon after the official announcement of the price was made by Bharti Airtel and Aircel. Some of the interesting tweets even mentioned few items that are shockingly cheaper than the latest smartphone by Apple.

A few of them included: LED television sets, one year’s petrol bill and return tickets plus three-day stay in Colombo/Dubai/Bangkok, etc. Tweets mostly condemned Apple for being harsh on Indian users, as the price of iPhone 4S in India is shockingly 35% more than that in the United States.

However, the situation holds no novelty for Apple or Indian users, for that matter. Starting from iPods, Apple products have always been priced considerably higher in India as compared to other nations like Singapore, Hong Kong and the United States.

While expressing his opinion in this regard, an industry executive, who has long been eventful in monitoring response of Indian users for such international gadgets, said: “Most customers who wanted the 4S are internet savvy. They took price cues from other markets”.
